TOKU Devices Maintain Exceptional Monitoring Capabilities at -40 C (-40 F) and Below

TOKU strives to empower oil and gas organizations with a new level of remote operational visibility that enables significant improvements in business efficiencies while mitigating risks. Operational monitoring that is reliable, consistent and without interruption is key to achieving the visibility that will unlock critical insights into operations to help improve businesses. Recently, TOKU’s remote pressure monitoring devices were put to the test in this area, proving their exceptional reliability.

In January of this year, Alberta was hit with a biting cold snap resulting in temperatures falling below -30 C (-22 F) for the majority of the province, with several areas north of Red Deer dropping to -43 C (-45.4 F) or colder.

Dozens of TOKU devices, installed at various locations for a range of upstream operations, were exposed to the drastic drop in temperature. Despite these extreme conditions, TOKU’s entire fleet of devices that were exposed to -40 C (-40 F) or colder operated as normal through the entire cold snap, ensuring continuous monitoring of our customer’s operations and assets.

For anyone living and working in temperatures that drop below -20 C (-4 F), we can all relate to the frustration of our life and work flow coming to a screeching halt when our battery operated equipment, smart phones, vehicles, etc. suddenly quit due to batteries dying from exposure to acute temperatures.   With expensive machinery, pipelines, production quotas, time consuming service calls and the environment on the line, it is crucial for oil and gas organizations to have consistent and uninterrupted intel on what is really happening with their operations to prevent major issues from occurring that jeopardize safety, efficiency and performance.

With this in mind, incorporating exceptional durability to not only withstand but also thrive in hazardous and threatening environments was a key priority for TOKU’s engineers when designing and developing the TOKU device. Because of this unprecedented durability, operators can feel confident that remote monitoring of their operations will continue uninterrupted regardless of extreme conditions. With access to TOKU data from any mobile device, operators can stay on top of their operations from the warmth of a field office or truck and focus their attention elsewhere.

TOKU is the ultimate remote-visibility solution providing the operational assurance and reliability organizations need while increasing productivity, lowering costs and reducing risks for mid and upstream operations.
